Phoenix

Ruppell’s Griffon vultures (Gyps ruepelli) are a species of old world vulture native to East Africa. They are considered to be the highest flying birds and have specialized hemoglobin to better absorb oxygen. Their diet consists entirely of carrion, though they do prefer fresher meat to rotting carcasses.

Phoenix was an intelligent, curious bird, which often got her into trouble. She had a big attitude and feared nothing, but she was well loved. Her favorite sleeping position was “dead vulture,” causing much alarm and concern to those who viewed her.
