Table Mountain is a plateau overlooking the city of Cape Town, South Africa. (The city is on the other side. This is the back of the
mountain) It makes up part of the Cape Floral Region, the smallest of the 6 recognized floral kingdoms in the world. Most of the vegetation is fynbos, a specific type of scrubland, and much of it is endemic to the area. An estimated 1500 different species of vegetation exist on Table Mountain, about as much as in all of the UK. The best known flowers are protea – large, showy, flowering bushes that grow almost exclusively in the region.
