Description
The African penguin (Spheniscus demersus) goes by many names, including the Blackfoot penguin and the Jackass penguin. They are native to southern Africa and are the only species of penguin native to Africa. Like all other penguins, they are black and white as adults, but they first show a different blue pattern right after losing their baby fluff. Only after their first molt at 1 year do they get their classic black and white colors.
